In addition to the functions allowed by the joystick adaptation, the adapted universal remote control remains fully functional for ordinary use using its keypad. Just like the TetraMouse, the TetraZap has two joysticks. The left joystick selects one of three devices to act on and also turns the devices on and off. The right joystick controls the TV volume and selects the channel of the device selected (if it has a tuner, such as a TV, cable box, satellite box or other device with a built-in tuner). The adapted remote may be programmed to utilize its "master power macro" function to turn all three programmed devices on or off at once by simply holding the left joystick in the "up" position about one second. The TetraZap requires two "AAA" batteries (included) and a mounting system. The TetraZap mounts in exactly the same way as a TetraMouse. A 1/4" x 20 threaded stud protrudes from the back of the TetraZap (same as the TetraMouse). The M04 Articulated Arm (not included) may be used to mount the TetraZap. > Turn on or off up to three devices at once by holding the left joystick up for one second (with Master Power Macro function programmed). > Select one of up to three devices to turn on or off individually with a short "up" push on the left joystick. > Control the TV volume level. > Turn on and off up to three devices at once by holding the left joystick up for one second. This requires that the remote be programmed to use the Master Power Macro. The Master Power Macro can also program the order in which the devices will turn on and off. Instructions for programming are in the Universal Remote Control manual (included). Please note that the above listed functions are the only functions available for control using the joysticks. You can, for example, turn on and off a VCR or DVD but there are no controls for playing a tape or disc except by using the remote's keypad. All the original keypad functions remain available for use by a helper or caregiver. The CBL/SAT device control in the adapted remote may be programmed to operate a device other than a cable or satellite box if desired, for example, if you want to control a TV, VCR and DVD, the CBL/SAT control can be programmed to control the DVD and the DVD/VCR control can be programmed to operate the VCR.
